CANTEXINC. TO MOVE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS FROM MINERAL WELLS, TEXAS TO HEART OF DOWNTOWN FORT WORTH, TEXAS
Mineral Wells, TX – CANTEX INC., a leading producer of PVC products, announced today it will move their corporate headquarters to the heart of downtown Fort Worth, Texas, in April of 2006. CANTEX currently operates three manufacturing plants, a state-of-the-art distribution center, as well as its headquarters and sales and marketing operations from the approximately 70 acre complex in Mineral Wells, Texas, which they have occupied since 1946, when the company began as a clay pipe producer. The upcoming move will affect around 60 of the 358 staff currently working out of the Mineral Wells facilities, which include the company’s administrative and sales departments. All other operations and manufacturing employees will remain at the Mineral Wells site.
"As a result of our continued business growth and expansion, it became necessary to look for a new location outside of Mineral Wells," explained Don Wirtanen, President and C.O.O. of CANTEX INC. "We needed a space where we could not only house all administrative and sales staff in one space, but also access a larger pool of qualified job applicants. We will occupy the 27th floor of the D.R. Horton building (301 Commerce Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102) which will finally allow us to bring everyone together under one roof and will also give us the flexibility we need for future growth. Logistically, this location is ideal for customers and suppliers because it is only 30 minutes from DFW airport and centralizes us more in the Dallas/Fort Worth area."
CANTEX is a leading producer of PVC conduit products with eight manufacturing facilities located strategically nationwide. These facilities feature some of the most modern production equipment and advanced process technology found anywhere in the industry. Production facilities include extrusion, injection molding and fabrication processes to produce the broad lines of PVC products which serve the power, utility, building construction and communication markets. CANTEX PVC products business began over 40 years ago when it was a division of a national corporation in the utility and building construction industry. In 1992, CANTEX was acquired by Sumitomo Corporation of America (SCOA), a fully integrated trading and investment enterprise with offices in 10 major U.S. cities. SCOA is the largest wholly owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation.
