Horizontal Directional Drilling Conduit

Horizontal Directional Drilling Conduit

Horizontal directional drilling is used to connect underground pipes, wires, cables, and ducts with a trenchless underground drill technique that minimizes damage to infrastructure and environment. CANTEX’s CAN>LOC® and CAN>GRIP® directional boring systems offer many benefits over HDPE, which is the conduit most used for HDD applications. Both CAN>GRIP and CAN>LOC provide a strength and flexibility advantage over other HDD conduit systems that are used for horizontal pipe boring. CAN>LOC and CAN>GRIP are also much lighter for shipping and easier to maneuver around a worksite than HDPE Reels.

CAN>LOC and CAN>GRIP eliminate many of the difficulties of working with HDPE conduit, including the need for cement or fusion to connect joints. They also eradicate the major hassles and risks that come along with HDPE reels like reel removal and HDPE reel distortion.

CAN>LOC and CAN>GRIP also have several advantages over other PVC directional drilling conduit systems like Bore-Gard® and Certa-Lok.® For example, to preserve strength, CANTEX only removes half of the PVC material that our competitors remove to make room for locking tabs. We actually add an additional piece of PVC to the bell to prevent the need to remove PVC from both sides for the locking spline. Products like Bore-Gard® and Certa-Lok ® have material removed for the locking spline. Similarly, the CANTEX directional drilling conduit connection point is 2” further inside the bell than other PVC HDD conduit systems to protect the bell from stress and bore failures from directional changes during underground pulls. CAN>LOC and CAN>GRIP also use patented, state-of-the-art Reiber Gaskets, considered the best in the industry for providing a watertight seal.

CAN>GRIP is in a league of its own among all horizontal drilling conduit; it is the only PVC directional boring conduit that completely eliminates the need for a locking tab, which lowers installation time and costs and allows for many more bores to be completed in one day.
