CANTEX Participates in Community Outreach with The Home Depot Foundation

November, 2024

Earlier this fall, Home Depot suppliers, including CANTEX, joined with the Home Depot Foundation in Asheville, NC to help refurbish a shelter for homeless Veterans. Since 2011, The Home Depot Foundation has funded more than $500 million in Veteran causes and improved more than 60,000 Veteran facilities and homes.

Staff from participating Home Depot suppliers built various kinds of furniture, landscaped, and gardened with the Asheville, Buncombe, Christian Ministry (ABCCM). Dave Milius, the Vice President Sales and Marketing and Kim Kenimer, the National Retail Sales Manager were on hand from CANTEX to help with the restoration project.

ABCCM has rehoused 163 Veteran households and prevented homelessness for 165 Veterans since 2021. ABCCM is involved in several other types of ministry and outreach efforts in the Carolinas including medical and crisis ministry. They are currently incredibly involved in Hurricane Helene relief efforts.

Unfortunately, most of the refurbishment work from this event for the Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ) in Asheville was destroyed by Hurricane Helene. However, The Home Depot Foundation is working with ABCCM to help fund and restore the VRQ. Both organizations also helped with care for the veterans in the storm's aftermath.
